I've never used anything but scissors, but I'm converted. I really like keeping these right by the machine - they're so handy! They're sturdy and came well oiled. The blades don't slide as cleanly as they could and the case was mangled, but they are so easy to use and I'm able to cut threads much shorter/closer to the fabric that I'm willing to overlook a couple flaws (and it gives me an excuse to make a cute case :-)
Very nice quality snips. I do recommend washing them with dish soap before use as stated in the product description.
